      Healing Post-Surgery Complications

The John F. Barnes Method of MFR:

      · Body

Surgery can save lives, but the aftermath isn’t always smooth sailing. Scar tissue, stiffness, and lingering pain often creep in, making recovery feel like an uphill battle. Myofascial Release offers a gentle, effective way to tackle these post-surgery complications by targeting fascia—the unsung hero of your healing process.

      How Surgery Impacts Fascia

Fascia, the connective tissue web encasing your muscles and organs, doesn’t take surgery lightly. Incisions and inflammation tighten it, forming restrictions that can pull on surrounding tissues. This might show up as scar tissue that feels hard and immobile, restricted movement, or even pain far from the surgical site (Fascia: anatomy, structure and function). Left unchecked, these fascial “knots” can complicate recovery, locking your body into discomfort.

      The John F. Barnes Solution

Pioneered by physical therapist John F. Barnes, this MFR method uses sustained, gentle pressure to release those fascial restrictions. Unlike aggressive therapies, it works with your body’s pace, softening scar tissue and restoring flexibility without force. It’s particularly powerful for post-surgery woes—easing adhesions, improving range of motion, and reducing that tight, “stuck” feeling. Barnes’ approach sees the body as a whole, so it can even address pain radiating from surgical trauma elsewhere.

      A Path to Recovery

After MFR sessions, clients often notice less stiffness, softer scars, and a freer, lighter body—key for reclaiming normalcy post-op. Whether it’s a knee replacement or abdominal surgery, this method helps your fascia let go of surgery’s grip, paving the way for smoother healing.
